Co-creator of The Simpsons, Sam Simon’s, last wish is for his fortune to be given charity.
The 58-year-old was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and told he has a maximum of six months left to live. Simon has decided to use his remaining days to give back to non-profit organizations.
“When I woke up in the hospital, even though I did have a will, it did become that much more important to me to set this stuff up for the future,” Simon told The Hollywood Reporter.
Simon is especially passionate about feeding the hungry and animal rights.
“Veganism is an answer for almost every problem facing the world in terms of hunger and climate change,” Simon said, defending of his favorite causes. “It helps people's health. Meat is the biggest greenhouse gas producer. There's also the cruelty and suffering aspect.”
Simon has won nine Emmys for his work for The Simpsons and The Drew Carrey Show, according to NY Daily News.
Simon admits of his success, “The truth is, I have more money than I'm interested in spending. Everyone in my family is taken care of. And I enjoy [giving back].”
