Saturday Night Live funnyman Seth Meyers is engaged to longtime girlfriend Alexi Ashe.
A rep for the Meyers confirms the news to Us Weekly with a source noting that the proposal was “a long time coming.”
"He's known that she's The One for a while, but it was all about timing,” the source adds.
The 39-year-old comedian met Alexi, a human rights lawyer, at a wedding back in 2011. Meyers previously expressed his desire to have a future with Ashe in a September interview with ELLE. “I do see that in my future," he explained of proposing to his longtime love. "When in my future -- that's less clear. But I do see it."
The SNL alum is stepping down from his post on the hit series and will shift gears on the network when he takes on a new seat with his own late night show. Meyer is slated to take over for Jimmy Fallon, who will replace Jay Leno when he retires in 2014.
