1980‘s and‘90’s television fans rejoice! Lion Forge Comics is taking some of the 1990’s most iconic series, from Saved By The Bell , Punky Brewster to Miami Vice, and turning them into a digital comic book series to be made available for Amazon Kindle, Apple’s iBooks and Barns & Noble’s Nook bookstore.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lion Forge Comics is resurrecting five NBC series made popular in the 90’s. In addition to bringing back the regulars from Bayside High, Night Rider, Miami Vice and Punky Brewster will see their return in digital format.

Chris Lucero, NBCUniversal Television's director of global consumer products licensing, calls the development and partnership with Lion Forge Comics “a natural step for us as we continue to identify new ways to entertain our fans in the digital space.”

David Steward, CEO of Lion Forge, released a statement in light of the news, according to Mashable, saying, "From hugely popular characters such as Crockett and Tubbs, Zack Morris and Punky Brewster to highly stylized music and clothing choices, these TV franchises have had a significant impact on pop culture, franchises have had a significant impact on pop culture.”

Lion Forge will stop by Comic Con on July 20 begin the process in turning these former hit shows in comics. Thus far, David Gorden, Jonathan London, Joelle Sellner and Geoffrey Thorne are signed on to write while Jason Johnson, Carl Reed and Lorenzo Lizana will work on the visual side of the comics.
