Will & Grace actor Sean Hayes is getting his own series, Sean Saves the World set to air during NBC’s primetime slot, Thursday evenings acting as the lead in for The Michael J. Fox Show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hayes credits Will & Grace for his opportunity to take on his new role in Sean Saves the World. On Sunday he told the Television Critics Association's summer press tour that his role as the openly gay character Jack McFarland helped viewers accept the bring acceptance into the gay community. “I would like to believe it had a big influence on the gay movement in America,” he explained.

"Thankfully [gay] is an afterthought like any minority now -- it's normal to everybody," Hayes adds. "Which is how it should be. It's sad it's even a question."

Sean Saves the World costars Megan Hitly, Samantha Isler, Echo Kellum and Linda Lavin. Isler will play Hayes’ daughter, Ellie.
