Maria Sharapova has made the decision for a new partnership. A day after parting ways with former coach Thomas Hogstedt, Maria brings Jimmy Connors to her team.
On her site Sharavopa tells fans that the two have known each other since 2008 and they briefly worked together before the Australian Open.
Jimmy Connors during his prime in tennis was a world number one player. Connors has many titles under his belt including eight Grand slam singles titles and two Grand slam doubles titles. Many contribute his winning to his unconquerable spirit and mean two-handed backhand.
Last month Sharapova fell short during Wimbledon, losing against qualifier Michelle Larcher de Brito. She is looking to get back to winning major tournaments and believes Jimmy Connors can help.
According to Settle Times, Connors has won 109 singles title within his 20-year career and also had a 19-month coaching stent with tennis great Andy Roddick.
Sharapova 26, in her career has accomplished great feats, including winning all four major championships at least once. With this new change in coaching she can only hope to reach those championships again.
