This week, Jack hands over the coaching responsibilities of the bars pee-wee hockey team to Steve when the new Bombers jerseys come in the mail. The arrival of the new jerseys gets everyone to remember Steve, Owen, Ahmed, and Roy’s time on the team.
Thanks to Hank and Carol, they were reminded that their team sucked and the win against Carnegie was a forfeit because the bus crashed killing everyone on board. Jack says that it did not matter whether they won or not, just that every kid plays. In Hanks subtle opinion, that was the problem with the team, every kid played.
The previous night, Jack was up all night watching a T.J. Hooker marathon because of Heather Locklear. Heather Locklear is Jack’s free pass. Someone he can look at and not suffer any consequences because he was caught looking. Even Hank and his wife had free passes. They were part of a swinging group, until Hank’s wife kept always ‘accidentally’ picking someone else’s keys.
All the talk of free passes has Susan curious. “Mom, please tell me you don’t have a free pass,” she says. To which her mother replies, “Not anymore. Kim Jong-Il is dead.” Ok Cha likes them mean, nasty, and down-right cruel. Luckily for her she finds some new eye candy.
In walks Steve, Owen, and the Sullivan and Son Bombers. While Owen is giving the after practice talk, Jack and Hank observe the new team. Lyle Winkler (Billy Gardell), an old childhood bully of Steve, Owen, Ahmed, and Roy walks into the bar, he’s the new Pee-wee Hockey league commissioner.
At the bar to get the team roster, he sees that Steve did not cut anyone and makes fun of him for having the “Every kid plays” philosophy, telling Steve that is a stupid philosophy. Before Lyle leaves, he notices Owen, Ahmed, and Roy and makes fun them as well.
Lyle does not make it out the door though. He remembers one thing, that the “Pussy Rule.” He tells them that the rule to cushion the blow of losing is gone. After Lyle leaves, Ok Cha fawns over him, saying that he’s “one beautiful piece of nasty.” Ok Cha has found her new free pass.
Two days later, Jack is still mad over Ok Cha’s new free pass. He feels that it is not okay because free passes are supposed to be someone that you cannot actually get. To which Ok Cha says that he has a chance with Heather Locklear…if she breaks down in Pittsburgh.
Steve and the gang walk in with the Sullivan and Son Bombers, coming off a 17-0 loss. Concerned commissioner, Lyle, arrives at the bar again in order to double check a score card that he finds troubling. However, it was only a ploy to make fun of Steve and his team.
The taunting pushes Steve over the edge and he gets tough with the team. The after game talk turns into tough pep-talk. Winners, according to Steve, have drive, intensity, concentration, and a killer instinct, writing D-I-C-K on the board. Jack pulls Steve aside and questions Steve’s motives for winning.
One week later, at the game versus Lyle’s team, Steve has gotten tough. He is not playing every kid and has even started trash talking. It is paying off, however. The Sullivan and Son Bombers are up 3-0. Over the course of the game, a couple parents walk in, surprised to see that their kids are actually winning.
After a surprising approval from Lyle on Steve’s new coaching method, Steve aims to prove him wrong. Steve puts Howie, the doughnut loving big kid on the team into the game. During a time out, Howie attempts to talk Steve into taking him out by repeating what Lyle said, that he does not belong on the ice.
Despite everyone’s protests, even his own will to win, Steve keeps Howie in the game. Steve tells Howie that he does belong on the ice and that he should try using his weight. After the time out, there is 30-seconds left and it has everyone nervous, especially with Howie in the game. The Sullivan and Son Bombers pull out a win, 6-5.
Back at the bar they are all celebrating with pizza. Lyle walks into the bar causing Steve to expect another round of bullying. But, Lyle was shown a cell phone video of himself at the game and he realized that his behavior was bad and he needed to apologize to Steve.
Surprised by this, Ok Cha dumps Lyle as her eye candy before he leave the bar. Jack looks at Steve and asks him if he is really going to be nice to Lyle next time. Steve says no and sends his team, except Howie, to run around the block. Howie is his enforcer.
