What kind of tour combines sight seeing with food sampling? The best kind! On a recent stay in Quebec we took The Food Tour with Tours Voir Quebec.

The Food Tour is an award-winning program that explores the history of regional food. In addition to learning about culinary and cultural traditions, we were able to sample about a dozen different foods in seven different venues.

On our tour we were able to sample gourmet desserts, and a variety of spirits, cheeses and crepes. In lieu of alcohol, apple cider was available for children and non-drinkers.

We also made stops at the Maple History Museum at Maple Delights and the Chocolate Museum at Erico. At Maple Delights we were able to learn all about the history of maple syrup in Quebec, and about the production process used to extract it from trees and prepare it for consumption. The Chocolate Museum at Erico featured the history of chocolate from the ancient Mayans through today, and hosted exhibits of art made entirely out of the decadent dessert.

Our guide spoke perfect English and was very knowledgeable about what foods we were sampling and their history. He was also very aware of our group's safety as we walked the streets of Quebec.

If you're going to take The Food Tour, be warned that it will spoil your dinner. All the walking helped with digestion but we were still feeling stuffed when we finished.

Tours Voir Quebec offers several different Food Tours that highlight specific parts of the city. You can learn all about them and book a reservation at ToursVoirQuebec.com.
