In honor of the band who saw me through my teen years and got me through many romantic mishaps, I’m giving you my top 10 98 Degrees songs.
Unlike other boy bands of the time, brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre formed 98 Degrees on their own and then were later signed to a record label. Their sultry ballads and harmonies made teenage girls scream for more. After the worldwide success of their 1998 album 98 Degrees and Rising the foursome were every teenage girl’s fantasy. Yet, in 2002, they announced the band was going on hiatus and the members each began pursuing other interests. Drew went onto win the mirrorball trophy alongside professional dancer Cheryl Burke on the hit ABC dance competition show Dancing with the Stars Nick released two solo albums, Jeff also released a solo album with plans for a second one and Justin decided to run for mayor in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In January 2013, the foursome appeared on the ABC talk show The View and announced “The Package” tour, a joint tour where they, New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men would tour the US together! To celebrate my seeing them at the Verizon Center in DC a few weeks back, here is my top 10 98 Degrees songs.
