Celebrity chef and Top Chef judge Gail Simmons is expecting her first child with husband Jeremy Abrams.
Simmons and Abrams married five years ago in a farmers’ market themed wedding according to E!News. The wedding was featured in Martha Stewart’s Real Weddings magazine. The couple now lives in Brooklyn, NYC, their child is expected to arrive this winter.
There were rumors last year that there was a rivalry between Simmons and Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi. "No, I have amazing respect for Padma, and even more so now that I host a show," Simmons said. "She has been incredibly supportive, and I realize now just how much work she does. The role of the host is a lot more complex than people think she is. I'm the Mary Ann to her Ginger, we like to say."
According to UsWeekly, the Top Chef: Just Desserts host wrote in her memoir about how Abrams proposed to her one morning after being on the road for ten days promoting Top Chef. Once she accepted the ring, there was another surprise, "Twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang again. Two deliverymen arrived bearing vases full of flowers; huge peonies, dahlias, roses, and hydrangeas. They lasted for days."
