ABC Family’s hit teenage drama series Switched At Birth’s has touched the lives of it’s viewers with it’s heart stopping revelation of two teenage girls being switched at birth and growing up in two very different households. Bay Kennish and Daphne Vasquez are night and day from their appearances, personalities and upbringing.

Bay is a rebellious artistic teen that was raised in a wealthy suburb with a stay at home mom, former professional baseball player dad, and older brother. Daphne is a deaf teen that lost her hearing from contracting meningitis. Daphne lives with in a single parent household in a low-income neighborhood. When the two families meet the drama ignites and the girls are face with insecurity and uncertainty. Here are the top ten episodes from the second season so far.

10. “He Did What He Wanted” (Episode 14) In the episode Daphne and Bay get mixed signals from their potential love interests. Daphne doesn’t know where she stands with Jace after they kissed. Bay and Ty try to figure out what their relationship entails. Bay is eager to move forward with Ty but it seems like he is reluctant and hesitant. Emmett has struggles with his father having a girlfriend and wanting to get cochlear implant. The Kennish and Vasquez family collide as Regina and Angelo join the country club. The episode ends with a wicked cliffhanger, as John is found unconscious on the kitchen floor and Regina calling 911.

9. “Introducing The Miracle” (Episode 10) This episode was the spring finale of the show that was filled with emotional turmoil. Toby announces his sudden engagement to Nikki and it is done off camera since it takes us by surprise. Regina falls back into her alcoholism causing both Daphne and Bay are devastated with her moment of weakness. Lana gives birth to Angelo’s baby and it makes Bay wonder “what if” Regina and Angelo would have raised her.

8. “Tight Rope Walker” (Episode 8) Students and faculty members debate with the school board in deciding if Carlton can continue to belong to the deaf students. The students want this without the interference of the students who can hear. Daphne feel conflicted with the situation and ends up speaking up for the cause. Regina and Bay have an argument as Bay tries to figure out if she is drinking again. The episode ends with Regina calling her sponsor for help.

7. “Drive In the Knife” (Episode 7) The highlight of the episode is about Travis who is the mysterious moody guy that has a crush on Daphne. Daphne doesn’t have the same feelings and tells him she just wants to be friends. As a result Daphne is left alone to pick out the identity of the food truck thief. Emmett and Bay share a steamy kiss after Bay tells him that they should move on. Emmett goes in for the kiss and it seems that their connection is far from over.

6. “Dressing For The Charades” (Episode 4) Bay and Angelo reach their breaking point as they constantly disagree and her resentment towards him. Angelo is a problematic character who married Regina in order to get a green card. In a lighter note Travis and Daphne’s relationship get a little heated and begins to turn into something more.

5. “Awakening Conscience” (Episode 2) Bay convinces her parents to let her attend Carlton. Emmett is surprised she is a student there and takes her under his wing. Daphne comes to terms that her parents are wealthy and tells herself that she will not take for granted the privilege she has been given. It’s something new and unfamiliar since Daphne grew up in a low-income neighborhood.

4. “Human/Need/Desire” (Episode 6) Daphne is embarrassed with the attack of the food truck robbery. She feels vulnerable and blames the event one being a target because of her deafness. Daphne is tired of being treating her differently and not being able to understand her because they just brand as her a ‘deaf girl.’ Noah is losing his hearing and starts freaking out at Bay’s Anti-Valentine’s Day party.

3. “The Door To Freedom” (Episode 1) This is the first episode of the second season that gives a jump start to the drama that will unfold. Angelo has impregnated his one night stands. This leaves Bay completely devastated and finally cleaned up her rebellious stage. Daphne is nursing her broken heart over Chef Jeff and she finally gets over it from the help of Melody. It was an emotional rollercoaster through out the episode and a perfect way to begin the season.

2.”Ecce Mono” (Episode 15) The episode brought the idea of “what if” the girls would have been reunited sooner instead of 13 years later. In this dream world John and Katherine finally get their dream come true with raising both girls without the existence of Regina. Daphne has had cochlear implant and doesn’t know sign language and that moves away from her being consumed by her deaf identity. On the other hand Bay is the outsider at school and home. At the end of the episode it seems like there will be a truce between the Kennish and Vasquez family.

1. “Uprising” (Episode 9) Carlton is a school that Daphne and Emmett attend that is a school to help deaf kids. There was an integration of kids who can hear in the school, that is when Bay enrolls. Carlton starts placing the deaf kids in various schools through out the district and it seems to backfire as the kids feel vulnerable and out of place. Daphne fights to stop the closing of Carlton. Bay cares about the school just as much as Daphne and helps her fight. Bay and Daphne finally come together and become ‘family’ and it is evident that their sisterly bond will grow stronger throughout the season.
