Despite the rumors of this being its last season, HBO’s True Blood has been renewed for a seventh season.

The official True Blood fansite has announced that there will definitely be a season seven. During an interview with ET Online, Lauren Bowles who plays the witchy Merlotte waitress Holly announced that the finale for this season “blows the whole show up” and is a fantastic starting point for the upcoming season.

Huffington Post reports that since Brian Buckner stepped up as showrunner, the producers have been trying to change the show up to avoid shooting the same scenes with the same characters. Instead they’ve been trying to focus on their “soap opera roots” to remind everyone that romance is important even when you’re in the middle of a war. The show is getting more than ten million viewers per episode, making it one of HBO’s signature shows. Buckner will continue as showrunner, but as of right now there has been no word on whether or not all of the characters will return to the show.
