The story of a serial killer who only kills bad guys, Dexter Morgan is a psychopath living by Harry’s code.
Harry was a police officer that took Dexter in, after being discovered in a storage container as a baby, sitting in a pool of his mother’s blood. Now fully grown, Harry lives on throughout the show as a part of Dexter’s conscience.
Dexter hides in plain sight as a blood splatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department. He works along side fellow police officer and sister, Debra Morgan. The show explores Dexter’s mental obstacles as he tries to understand himself, keep from getting caught, and satisfy his urge to kill all at once.
As a result, Dexter finds himself engrossed in situations involving other serial killers, innocent police officers, and hurting the people he loves most or at least thinks he loves.
The show is dark, but with gratifying moments of dark humor as actor Michael C. Hall shows that he is the right man for the job. For a show that carries a lot of narrative, Hall plays the part of a serial killer in such a way that keeps the show suspenseful and fresh.
Dexter is truly an original concept that has viewers not only rooting for the serial killer, but hoping that Dexter teaches the good guys a murderous lesson.
