The new season of Lisa Kudrow’s show Web Therapy opens up with “Relax, Reboot, Revenge,” with a lot of all of that. Fiona Wallice, played by Lisa Kudrow, has gone on vacation to forget about her mother stealing the idea for her over-the-web therapy session business and her boyfriend Austin Clarke, played by Alan Cumming, getting his other girlfriend pregnant. On top of that, everyone who worked for her before has abandoned her to go work for her mother’s company, Net Therapy.
While on vacation, Fiona meets Jackson, played by Steve Carell, who is much more interested in starting a tryst than she is. Fiona is obviously yearning to work again. Instead of sitting face to face with Jackson, she talks to him through Skype while sitting at the same table. While discussing how “special” the one night stand was, Jackson begins opening up and telling Fiona what ideas he has about marriage.
Fiona’s next call is from her previous assistant, Jerome Sokoloff, played by Dan Bucatinsky, who has nothing but good news about his new employer, Net Therapy. Google is getting in contact with them soon and they’ll be rich because of it.
At the end of the previous season, Fiona had just learned her boyfriend got another woman pregnant. Austin and Gina have gone to Scotland to live in his castle. He calls Fiona from the castle to inform her that he and Gina are getting married, but he’s only doing it to have a legitimate heir. Austin has also bought the penthouse for Fiona that she’s always wanted, and plans on divorcing Gina the day after the child is born and leaving to live in the penthouse with Fiona. Gina then enters the call, complaining about “Scotchland” and how she can’t understand anyone because they don’t speak American. Fiona then goes on to congratulate them on their child and marriage, and reminds Gina to get a prenuptial agreement so that she can get a certain amount of money from Austin when they get a divorce, and to encourage Gina to stop having sex with Austin altogether.
Fiona’s next call is with a woman who is the musical composer for a Broadway musical featuring a character inspired by Fiona herself. Franny, played by Megan Mullally, sees that Fiona is the perfect villain just upon seeing her. Franny then goes on to ask Fiona for help with her drinking problem, she’s worried she’s writing brilliant songs while blacking out. Fiona offers to help her with the script because it doesn’t seem like Franny really know who Fiona is if she’s the inspiration for the villain.
Overall, this episode was a great start to the newest season of Web Therapy.
