Reports surfaced that Zachary Quinto and boyfriend Jonathan Groff have recently split.
According to US Weekly, the couple’s conflicting schedule was the reason for the breakup.
“Zach being away and filming was not easy on them,” a source said. “Now he’s going to be in New York with his new Broadway play ‘The Glass Menagerie.’ They really loved each other, so it wasn’t an easy split.”
While the separation wasn’t easy, the source says it was amicable.
While Quinto is preparing for his Broadway debut, Groff has several projects coming up with an untitled HBO series, and a HBO film Normal Heart, co-starring with Julia Roberts and Mark Ruffalo which is schedule to premiere next year.
The Star Trek actor, 36, and occasional Glee guest star Groff, 28, confirmed their relationship back in 2012, one year after Quinto came out to the public that he was gay.
The Huffington Post reports, Groff flew back to California to be with Glee co-star Lea Michele as she grieves over the death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith.
