The Bachelorette, Desiree Hartsock, accepted a proposal on Monday night’s finale episode, which was filled with tears and drama, but ended in happiness. Chris Siegfried jokingly proposed to Desiree Hartsock on the first night and now they’re actually engaged!

The 27-year-old mortgage broker asked Desiree for her hand in marriage after her heartbreak with contestant Brooks Forrester in Antigua. During the finale, Desiree was mostly in tears over Brooks who broke up with the star last week. Desiree told Host Chris Harrison, “I just want to go home, to be honest. I don’t have a clue what I’m going to do.”

Desiree has always been honest and open about her feelings from the beginning. She mentioned that she was in love with Brooks during a few episodes of the season. His leaving was totally unpredicted and shocking. She admitted, “It turned my world upside down. It goes to show that love is unpredictable and it is a two-way street. When I say your name and ask you if you would like to accept this rose, please let me know.”

Following the heartbreak she still chose to carry on with contestants Drew and Chris. Drew was offered and accepted one of the roses during the finale, but after a horseback riding date she sent him home because she realized she didn’t love him.

Drew was very sweet, and told Desiree: “It’s okay. You can’t control who you love.” He thanked her for being honest about her feelings and wished her happiness.

When he separated from Desiree he told cameras, “I didn’t see myself coming out of this without her. I found the woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” and made him look miserable.

During Desiree’s date with Chris, the sparks flew. She realized her love for him. The two hung out on the beach and he gave her a journal with all of the poems he wrote for her throughout the season. The pair has been known for their romantic poetry sessions. Later, he met the family.

Desiree’s over-protective brother came back into the picture. Everyone remembers her scary brother Nate from her season with Sean Lowe. He was part of the reason Sean let her go, so you can tell how that meeting went down. However, this time, he fully approved. After a serious of questions, he told his sister, “If you choose him, I definitely think you’re making the right choice.” This left Desiree very hopeful and happy.

Once Desiree realized how perfectly Chris would fit into her family, she decided that it was time to be honest with him. She wanted to tell Chris exactly how she felt about Brooks. She felt that he deserved and needed to know the truth. Luckily, it didn’t change how Chris felt about her.

During the picture-perfect proposal, Chris got down on a knew and said, “I want to be your first and I want to be your last…Will you marry me?”

Desiree replied, “Yes, a thousand times.”

The two are perfect for each other and have always been falling in love with each other since the beginning. In the “After the Rose: Finale Special,” she sat down with Brooks once again and thanked him saying: “You honestly did me a favor.”

For the first time in public during the after show, Chris and Des were reunited. The couple looked so happy together and very much in love. Desiree told the audience that she plans on moving to Seattle and starting a life with Chris.

We are so happy Desiree was able to make the right choice and wish them all the happiness in the world!

Host Chris Harrison announced that the next season of “The Bachelor” is set to begin in January and Desiree’s contestant, Juan Pablo Galavis, will be looking for love.
