In this episode of Under the Dome, Julia uncovers the truth about her husband's disappearance and unravels some of Chester's Mill's darkest secrets. Meanwhile, Maxine shows Barbie how she plans to take control of the town.
This episode begins where the last episode left off. Angie, Norrie, and Joe are sleeping in the barn. They wake up to see that a monarch caterpillar is inside the mini-dome. In this episode, the trio tries to find the fourth hand to unlock the secrets of the mini dome. For total simplicity, the trio looks at two candidates: Junior and Julia. So they all go out to search for the two. But Dodee Weaver sneaks into the barn and touches the mini-dome. The dome shocks her and knocks her out.
The trio comes back and takes her to the clinic. Miraculously, Dodee forgets what she saw. At the same time, Angie talks to one of the nurses at the clinic and realizes that Junior had seizures in the past as well. Junior is the fourth hand. Later on, Angie reveals to Joe that Junior kidnapped her. They recruit him anyway and all four of them touch the dome and the egg activates showing pink stars forming constellations around the barn.
The main action of the episode revolved around Maxine, Big Jim, and Barbie. Maxine has the ball in her court now and town is playing her game. She has a created a fight club of sorts where people can barter items and bet on fighters. Max recruits Barbie to be her headliner. If he refuses, she will tell Julia that Barbie murdered Peter. Barbie throws the fight but Max still wins.
Meanwhile, Big Jim heads over to Maxine’s house. He comes face to face with Agatha, Maxine’s mom, she holds Big Jim at gun point but Big Jim wrestles the gun away from her. Then he takes her captive. While on the boat, Big Jim discusses how the world seems to work for him. Then Agatha falls in the lake. Big Jim considers going back for her but he decides to let her drown.
With all of those things going on, Julia and Linda find out via deposit boxes in the town bank that Peter wanted Barbie to kill him because of an insurance policy and Duke is connected to Max, the Reverend, and Big Jim’s drug scheme. Julia and Barbie talk about Peter’s death at the end of the episode.
This episode was okay. The constant issue with this show is that it is on one minute and off the other. Right after a good episode last week, we get this mediocre episode with very few surprises. Hopefully, next week’s episode is better. Under the Dome airs on CBS.
