In this episode of Under the Dome, Junior stands up to his father and is shattered when he discovers the truth about his mother's past. Meanwhile, Julia learns firsthand the powers of the "mini dome."
The episode starts with Junior coming back home. Big Jim greets him with a cold embrace because Junior killed one of the Dundee brothers. Big Jim tells junior that he is not welcomed there anymore. Also we see Barbie digging a grave for Alice. Norrie is highly emotional because of the unexpected death and her relationship with Joe is on the rocks.
At same time, food and water has become an issue for the residents. Big Jim wanted to strike a deal with Ollie but Ollie refused to be controlled by Jim anymore. This is where the main plot of the story takes off. Big Jim gets an idea to take the well by using the law of eminent domain.
So Big Jim takes Barbie, Linda and Junior to Ollie’s farm but this plan fails when Ollie brings out a caravan of a dozen or so armed farmers. Junior decides to join Ollie’s camp after seeing that there was no hope. While there he learns that his mother’s death was not what it seemed. He was told that his mother committed suicide not in a car accident like Jim told him.
Big Jim has another plan up his sleeve. He instructs Linda and Barbie to help gather volunteers for an all-out-assault but Barbie decides to blow-up the well to send the water back to the town’s old reservoirs. So he steals some bomb making supplies from Ollie and makes two bombs.
Later that night, Big Jim launches a full attack on Ollie’s farm. Barbie sets up the bombs but he is ambushed by one of Ollie’s allies. Then Barbie fights him off. Then he blows up the well causing Jim to reconsider the attack. Once the well was gone everyone including Ollie’s men left.
Meanwhile, Junior meets his dad on the field and hits him with the butt of his shotgun. Now Big Jim is a captive on Ollie’s farm. Junior asks Jim to tell him the truth about his mom’s death. Big Jim tells him that his mom left the house after an argument and ran into a tree. The accident sent her flying out of the window killing her instantly. Ollie grew tired of the lies, so he tried to shoot Jim but Junior shot Ollie first.
In the end of the episode, Julia and Joe’s adventure to the mini dome leads to the next episode. When Julia touched the mini dome, she saw Joe and heard the words: “The Monarch will be crowned”. Then the show ends with Angie who has a monarch butterfly tattoo.
This episode was amazing. This show constantly has good episodes right after a mediocre one. I love the concept of the mini dome. It is bringing forth new plot twists every week that has taken place of the old stale ideas from previous episodes. This is the perfect time to start watching. Under the Dome airs on CBS.
