David Morrissey, who has stunned Walking Dead fans with his acting skills as The Governor, has signed on to star in Line of Sight, a new pilot at AMC.
The plot of Line of Sight centers on Lewis Bernt, a National Transportation Safety Board investigator who survived a mysterious plane crash. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Morrissey will take the lead role as Lewis. Blake Masters (Brotherhood) is writing the pilot and is executive producer.
According to Deadline, which broke the news, AMC insists that Walking Dead fans should not be worried about his role on the hit zombie drama. The network would not say if (or when) the Governor would be killed off, but noted that Morrissey will film both projects. It also helps that both projects will be filmed in Atlanta.
“We are huge fans of David Morrissey and are glad he’ll be doing double duty for AMC viewers through his work on The Walking Dead and our pilot for Line Of Sight, both of which are produced in Atlanta,” AMC said in a statement.
Since the Governor is killed in the Walking Dead comics (and the show usually kills off characters to end story arcs), it is safe to assume that the character won’t survive very long into season four. After all, a similar thing happened with Jon Bernthal, who played Shane. He joined Frank Darabont’s Mob City before his character was eventually killed off.
The British Morrissey is signed on as a series regular for season four, which premieres in October.
