Famed weather man Al Roker slept in for the first time in 39 years Tuesday morning, missing his duties on Wake Up with Al.
According to Today, Rooker informed his fans of his accidental oversleeping in tweet posted at 5:41 a.m. “After 39 years, it happened. I overslept and missed a show. Missed #WUWA. But will be on time for @today,” he wrote.
Today co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer couldn’t help but make fun of Rooker, who admits up until today he’s never needed an alarm clock.
Since posting the his tardiness on Twitter, Roker informs that the topic has been a huge social media topic. He writes, “Wow. My oversleeping and missing #WUWA really has blown up on Twitter. So tell me your oversleeping story. #oversleeping.”
Guthrie quipped, “We call it #Almageddon.”
Roker didn’t inform viewers exactly what got his schedule so messed up that he missed a days work, but after becoming a hot topic on Twitter and the poking and prodding from his fellow Todayco-workers, Roker is likely to arrive early at work from here on out.
