Alec Baldwin isn’t shy about sharing his political beliefs, but now the former 30 Rock actor could be getting a paycheck to talk about politics on television. According to a report, Baldwin is in talks with MSNBC to host a primetime slot.

Late Thursday, Mediate reported that Baldwin was in talks for a Friday 10 p.m. talkshow that would give him a chance to air out his liberal politics on air. The Hollywood Reporter also confirmed the news, but noted that talks could still stall and that nothing is in stone.

MSNBC has been in a ratings spiral lately and a big-name hire like Baldwin could help the network significantly. Baldwin, 55, also has a long relationship with NBC, having starred as Jack Donaghy on Tina Fey’s 30 Rock during the show’s entire run. He also has a two-year overall deal with Universal Television. There were also rumors that he was in the running for Jimmy Fallon’s timeslot once Fallon takes over the Tonight Show, but that job went to Seth Meyers instead.

Baldwin currently hosts a podcast that airs on WNYC and was rumored to be in the running for the New York mayor’s office, but he decided not to run.

Baldwin’s reps did not comment on the reports, but an MSNBC source told Mediate, “We’re fans of Alec but we’ve got nothing to say regarding this unconfirmed report.”
