Amanda Bynes’ mother was granted a temporary conservatorship over the former child actress.
Ventura County Judge Glen Reiser has ruled that Bynes parents, Richard and Lynn Bynes, should have limited control over her affairs including medical treatment. This also includes her personal finances. However, the judge advised her parents to not make any deals without consulting Bynes’ lawyer first.
Bynes’ attorney argued in opposition saying that the conservatorship wasn’t necessary but Reiser disagreed saying that Bynes had a "lack of capacity to give informed consent to medical care” according to Associated Press .
Bynes has been held in a psychiatric ward since last month due to her setting a fire in a driveway in her hometown, Thousand Oaks, California. TMZ reports that Bynes could not even appear in court when the conservatorship was being issued due to being deemed “too gravely disabled” with mental illness.
Bynes’ stay has been extended for 30 more days though it could end anytime before then.
Besides her disturbing tweets and her setting the fire, Bynes had also gotten a DUI and charged with throwing a bong out the window (even though she stated that it was a vase).
