In Lovelace, actress Amanda Seyfriend plays iconic porn star Linda Lovelace. The 27-year-old beauty recalls her first time witnessing pornography admitting it happened at the ripe age of six.
“I was five or six. Six, I think, It was a cop - - a guy dressed in a cop costume, and it was a girl going down on him,” she tells GQ magazine alongside Lovelace costar Peter Sarsgaard. “It was the first time I’d ever seen a penis, and I remember it being very graphic, and I remember when he came: it was so terrifying. It was funny. But it was also, like, so, so, so wrong.”
Sarsgaard, still stunned at the revelation that his young costar witness pornography at age six was unable to recall his first experience with porn, so rather remembered his first soft-porn experience.
Seyfriend calls playing the iconic anti-pornography advocate “a challenge” adding “I just wanted to play somebody real.”
The Big Love starlet admits, however, that as towards the end of shooting the film she became uncomfortable with idea of younger boys seeing the film, noting that she doesn’t want anyone to think that this is the way women should be treated.
Seyfriend explained the hook that her character had on her, she previously explained that she had a “hard time” letting go of Linda during an interview back in January, “ I had a hard time letting go of Linda at the end of the movie,” she explained. “I had a really intense time with (co-star) Peter Sarsgaard. I think we both had a hard time letting go because we went to these places.”
Lovelace is in theaters now.
