With two of their biggest series ending, AMC is in a slight dilemma. With Breaking Bad set to end in over a month and Mad Men scheduled to end in 2014, the only show they have left to show off is The Walking Dead.
In an article by The New York Times,AMC executives agreed that it would be impossible to follow the success of Breaking Badand Mad Men. Joel Stillermanm, head of original programming for AMC said,” I would love to say there’s no pressure, but that would be a lie.”
AMC currently has 67 projects in development, the highest number in their history. Before their successful dramas, they were just known as an older movie channel with a very low young adult demographic. However, the attention and awards that Breaking Bad, Mad Men,have been getting has helped AMC’s reputation exponentially. AMC Networks President and CEO Josh Sapan believes that the strength of The Walking Dead will help keep their reputation high.
In an article by The Wrap, he jokes, “"We hope that zombies really do live forever -- or at least for a decade.”
The Walking Dead is to resume with their fourth season this October.
