Television’s fall lineup just got a little spookier with the announcement of the official premiere date of American Horror Story: Coven.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the third season of Glee creator Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10 p.m.
This year’s offering of the series features a dark, witchy theme and many recurring cast members.
According to TVLine, Jessica Lange is returning to play the mom to another AHS alumna, Sarah Paulson. Other notable AHS returning members include Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga and Denis O’Hare. The cast will be joined by fresh faces, including Gabourey Sidibe, Kathy Bates, and Angela Basset.
Executive producer Tim Minear told TVLine that Coven features “a feminist theme” and will feature themes of ”race and oppression and family… along with laughs and scares and a few tears.”
According to THR, Murphy hinted that fans will want to pay particular attention to the opening credits.
“You have to watch it 10 times because every frame is a clue for what the season will be," he said. "By the last frame of the main title for Coven, you'll really have an idea of what the last frame of the season will be."
