Andrew Silverman, the friend reportedly scorned by X Factor creator and judge Simon Cowell, is asking the media to respect his privacy. Silverman, his estranged wife Lauren and Cowell have been under constant media scrutiny since Wednesday, when it was revealed that Lauren is expecting Cowell’s child.
As paparazzi have arrived at the Silvermans’ New York home, Newsday reports that Silverman did approach reporters. “Please respect my family's privacy,” he told them. “I have a 7-year-old son. ... This is a very difficult time. Please keep your distance.”
Clearly, that’s not stopping the media from speculating the couple’s next move. Silverman did file for divorce two weeks ago, naming Cowell as a co-respondent and cited adultery.
According to TMZ sources, Silverman found out about the affair this spring and was surprised to see a photo of Cowell and Lauren on his boat in August 2012. He’s hoping to get primary custody of their 7-year-old son, since he thinks Lauren is a bad parent for mysteriously disappearing for long periods of time. The three apparently want the divorce over as soon as possible.
“They have a beautiful 7-year-old child between them and that is their biggest concern,” Lauren’s mother, Carole Eisenberg, told the New York Daily News.
While Cowell danced around questions at an X-Factor panel this week, Lauren did issue a statement to People.
“I am committed to sorting things out with Andrew as amicably as possible to ensure the well-being of our son. I would hope for some space and privacy in order to work through this,” she said Thursday.
In another statement, Silverman said, “Hopefully people can respect the interest of our child during this process.”
