Angelina Jolie revealed that she terrified numerous children while dressed up as Maleficent, the villain for her upcoming movie.

According to People Jolie frightened plenty of kids as the villain for the dark approach of the Sleeping Beauty remake. Part of her costume included the signature headpiece made famous by the Disney villain. She said, "These little kids would visit the set, and I would think, 'Oh, I am a Disney character,' so I would go over to them, and say, 'Hi there.' They would just scream." She added, "One little kid even said, 'Mommy, please make the mean witch stop talking to me.' "

Her daughter and costar Vivienne, who played the young Sleeping Beauty, wasn't as easily scared as the other children. Jolie said to EntertainmentWeekly, “She was the only 4-year-old who wouldn’t scream.” Vivienne played the very young version of Princess Aurora/Briar Rose while Elle Fanning played the teenage version.

Oscar-winning production designer Robert Stromberg directs Maleficent, a darker, live-action take on the 1959 Disney animated version. The film is told from the point of view of the villain.

Maleficent will open July 2, 2014.
