Bethenny Frankel, former Real Housewives of New Jersey star, doesn’t feel bad for Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe in light of their legal woes.
As reported on Monday, the Giudices were indicted on 39 criminal charges and if convicted, could face up to 50 years in jail. Among the charges they racked up are tax evasion and conspiring to illegally get mortgages and other loans from numerous banks.
While at the TCA tour panel at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills on Wednesday promoting her new talk show Bethenny, Frankel shared her thoughts in her trademark blunt way.
"My first thought today was, 'Oh, if they weren't on reality TV, none of this would probably ever be exposed,'” Us Weekly reports. “And it's just funny how certain people are [like a] moth to a flame. It's almost like -- not that you want to get caught -- but people who love to be in the spotlight often have a lot of skeletons in their closet. It's just an interesting thing."
She continued, "I haven't paid that much attention. Do I feel sorry for them? No, I don't. Not so much, because it broke the law. You broke the law and you went on television. That's not really that smart."
Teresa and Joe were released on $500,000 bonds on Tuesday and will appear in court again on Aug. 14. They have four daughters; Gia, 12, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 7, and Audriana, 3
Frankel, who has a 3-year-old daughter, Bryn, with estranged husband Jason Hoppy, said of the couple’s girls, "I feel badly for them because they have kids, and their kids didn't sign up for this."
