Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik is opening up about her divorce, and why it helped her to blog about her experiences with it. She and Michael Stone divorced last November, but they also had to take the necessary steps for divorce through their church.
“I wanted to write about some of the more complicated aspects. And specifically, also, there’s certain things [related] to Jewish divorce that people don’t know about,” she told Access Hollywood.
Bialik blogs for Kveller.com and talks openly about her divorce process.
“There’s something called a ‘Get,’” she said. “There’s a religious process. You sit in the same room and you watch your divorce deed be written. It’s actually a very interesting thousands year old document that you watch written and you have to be in the same room as your ex.”
She wrote about that process, which she called “cathartic,” saying she hopes it’s “helpful to other people or other women.”
Bialik also said the process was a “very emotionally powerful sense of closure for us.”
