NBC's The Biggest Loser replaces former trainer with new, uncertified one.

According to TMZ Sandy Krum, a trainer on the show since 2007, was fired from the show before Season 15 began taping this past summer. Krum's replacement is Ryan Applegate, a young trainer who has not yet been certified in California. Although the certification is not required by law, it supports a trainer's qualifications.

Examiner.com reports that the show has not revealed why Krum was given the boot. His replacement has already started working with the new contestants for the next season.

DailyMail.co reports that before joining Biggest Loser Krum worked as a trainer for Major League Baseball clubs including the Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs. He earned a degree in community health services with a concentration in athletic training at Ohio University.

Although some past contestants and staffers are upset with Applegate replacing Krum as a trainer, a representative for The Biggest Loser's production company supported his hiring in a statement saying, "The health and safety of our contestants is our #1 priority and the show is confident that the team of professionals they have hired to work with the contestants are qualified to do so"the statement said.

The new season of Biggest Loser will begin airing on Oct. 8 on NBC.
