Woody Allen is back and with a strong cast in his new feature titled, Blue Jasmine.
Cate Blanchett was perfectly cast as Jasmine; she stole the show with an incredible portrayal of a neurotic Upper East Side New York woman. Her life has seemingly been torn apart after her husband, played by Alec Baldwin, cheats on her and she loses all of her money. Forced to move in with her sister in San Francisco, Jasmine finds no other choice but to work as a dentist office receptionist. Louis C.K, Peter Sarsgaard and Bobby Cannavale are featured as well.
Woody Allen only hands out pages of the script to those actors who are in the scene and therefore they are somewhat clueless to how the film will resolve itself. Sarsgaard said, “I think everything that Woody does emphasizes the fact that your main job is to be in the present moment. Anything long-term is up to him. You don’t need to worry about playing some kind of arc, you just need to be present in the scene that you’re shooting,” according to MSN. This film was released on July 26 and is now playing nationwide.
