Fox has added to its ever-growing list of limited series with an adaptation of Broadchurch, the acclaimed British crime drama that aired earlier this year and drew strong ratings for ITV.
The network announced its plans Thursday during the Television Critics Association Press Tour, reports Reuters. No casting was confirmed, but Fox did say that series creator Chris Chibnall would be onboard as an executive producer. The U.S. version will be filmed in January and is slated to air during the 2014-2015 TV season.
According to the BBC, the U.K. version aired on ITV and had audiences buzzing about who committed the murder of an 11-year-old boy. Olivia Colman and David Tennant starred as the detectives investigating the murder.
“Broadchurch is the kind of storytelling that grabs your attention and keeps you riveted with every minute - which is exactly what we look for in an event series,” Fox head Kevin Reilly said.
The U.K. version of Broadchurch will air on BBC America, starting on Aug. 7.
This is the latest mini-series for Fox, which has also greenlit a 24 mini-series that will air next year.
