After rumors surfaced that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones were taking a break from their marriage, a rep for Zeta-Jones confirms they’re “evaluating” their almost 13-year marriage.

"Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage," her rep told CNN.

As we previously reported, a source close to the couple and parents of Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, said neither Douglas or Zeta-Jones have made any moves towards a legal separation or divorce.

Zeta-Jones’ rep’s confirmation clears up why they’ve been spending a lot of time apart recently – they haven’t been photographed since April 22. When Douglas got back from the Cannes Film Festival in May, they decided to spend time apart.

“The stress has taken a toll on their marriage,” said an insider about Douglas’ throat cancer and Zeta-Jones’ bipolar II disorder. The insider maintained, “They want the best for their kids, no matter what happens.”
Douglas, 68, and Zeta-Jones, 43, got married in November 2000.
