Chris Brown can add a new lawsuit to his laundry list of legal issues. The cousin of singer Frank Ocean, whom Brown got into an altercation with at a recording studio in January, is now suing Brown for assault and battery.
Sha’keir Duarte says in the lawsuit, filed on Tuesday, that he suffered a concussion in addition to humiliation and mental anguish after a member of Brown’s entourage only identified as “Hood” punched and kicked him during an altercation over a parking spot at Westlake Recording Studios.
According to EW, Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos said of the lawsuit “This is what gives lawyers and lawsuits a bad name is garbage like this.”
He added they were countersue Duarte and attempt to get the assault and battery case dismissed.
The lawsuit claims that Brown has “attempted to publicly belittle Frank Ocean, and any recording artist or acts associated with him,” MTV reports.
The fight started when Brown allegedly parked in Ocean’s spot on Jan. 27. Although Ocean said he hurt his finger in the fight, he also took to social media to say he wouldn’t press charges on Brown.
