Most of the Glee cast returned to the set today, but actor Chris Colfer was not one of them. While he spent time promoting his second novel, The Enchantress Returns in The Land of Stories series, in New York City he also took time to reflect on how reuniting with his costars after the loss of Cory Monteith will be.

According to
Entertainment Weekly, Colfer does not not what to expect when he returns to set.

“We’ve had bumps and dips along the road over the course of the years, but nothing like this. I know we’ve always come together — always — in the past, because we are such a family in the cast and the crew. But I don’t know. I’m assuming things will be very different, and I’m sure they’ll be difficult at first. But…. We’ll see. I think I’m positive,” Colfer said.

According to The Huffington Post, grieving the loss of Monteith has been difficult, despite the outpouring of support from the show’s fan base for his family and friends. When asked how he feels about all of the contact from fans while he deals with the death of his friend and costar, Colfer said he is doing the best he can and that he really prefers to grieve privately. Moreover, he believes a line should be drawn in that respect.

"It's difficult because it's hard to mourn someone, but it's another thing to mourn someone with the world," Colfer explained. "I think a line needs to be drawn, because it's really unnerving to get messages from people, from 12-year-olds in Nebraska telling you how to mourn and telling you how to pay your respects."

While Colfer is grateful for the support and understands the emotions the fans are coping with as well, he also certainly has the right to mourn privately in hopes to push through the grief.

"I'm doing as well as I could be doing," he said. "It's a really, really unfortunate situation, but I think all you can do is move forward."

Colfer will return next week to work on Glee as character Kurt Hummel, with the fifth season is scheduled to air September 26, 2013. As the Colfer and the cast continue to grieve, Monteith’s death and the issue of drug abuse will also be addressed by the show in its own way, according The Express Tribune.
