The next Bond film will be a return of the old, according to 007 himself Daniel Craig, via Digital Spy.
First reported by Vulture in a story on Craig's upcoming Broadway show, the current James Bond actor said the next movie may be more reminiscent of old school Bond films.
“Hopefully we’ll reclaim some of the old irony,” he said, “and make sure it doesn’t become pastiche. I can’t do shtick, I’m not very good at it. Unless it kind of suddenly makes sense. Does that make sense?"
This makes quite a bit of sense considering the ending of Skyfall, which, to be spoiler-free, set up a future full of renewed possibility.
Most fans scare themselves senseless at the sight of words like "irony," "patische," and "shtick," having been burned by camp in debacles like the late Roger Moore Bond films and the infamous Batman & Robin. Craig assures fans his limits won't allow it.
"I sometimes wish I hammed it up more, but I just can’t do it very well, so I don’t do it,” Craig said.
The previous film, Skyfall, became the franchise's first billion dollar earner. The untitled twenty-fourth Bond film, directed again by Skyfall helmer Sam Mendes will hit U.S. theaters November 6, 2015.
