Dick Van Dyke was involved in a scary car accident in Los Angeles on Monday. His Jaguar caught on fire and he had to be pulled out of the flaming vehicle.
The 87-year-old television icon was pulled out of the car just in time. He was saved by a man named Jason Pennington, who saw Van Dyke parked on the side of the road on the 101 Freeway, bending over the steering wheel while the car smoked.
Pennington said he ripped the Diagnosis Murder star out of the driver’s side before it was too late.
According to TMZ, Van Dyke didn’t need to go to the hospital and although he was shaken up, he was fine. His wife picked him up from the scene shortly after the car burst into flames.
Both Van Dyke and his wife, Arlene, posted pictures of the car, which is completely out of commission, on Twitter after the accident.

LA Times reports the California Highway Patrol got a call around 2pm saying a car was burning on the right shoulder of the eastbound freeway. The report said two off-duty nurses helped him after he got out of the vehicle.
