Sources confirm rumors that Dr. Luke will become the newest addition to the judge’s panel on Fox’s American Idol. The network hasn’t announced it yet, but Jennifer Lopez will reportedly also be returning, along with the only confirmed judge Keith Urban.
Rumors started to surface last week that Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am turned down Fox’s offer to become a new judge in favor of returning to UK’s The Voice instead.
At the time, producer Dr. Luke was “close to signing” a deal.
According to E! Online, he has officially signed on to become the third judge on the panel.
The industry heavyweight has multiple hits on his impressive resume, with Katy’ Perry’s “California Gurls,” Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone,” Britney Spears’ “Circus,” Flo Rida’s “Right Round,” and Kesha's "Tik Tok” being just a few.
Deadline reports former judge, Randy Jackson, is also in talks to replace Jimmy Iovine as the contestants’ mentor.
Dr. Luke, real name Lukasz Gottwald, started his career as a guitarist for the Saturday Night Live house band.
