Comedian and daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has officially been named 2014’s Oscar host.

USA Today reports that DeGeneres confirmed the news on Twitter Friday writing, “It's official: I'm hosting the #Oscars! I'd like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences shared their enthusiasm following the announcement releasing a statement saying, "As a longtime friend, we had always hoped to find a project for us to do together and nothing could be more exciting than teaming up to do the Oscars."

Last year’s Oscars were hosted by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. The funnyman offered a light-hearted approach to the normally serious prestigious event. MacFarlane received backlash for his now infamous “Boob Song,” but still dominated in ratings. Reports quickly surfaced that the controversial cartoon creator would be asked back, but he later debunked the rumors saying, “Traumatized critics exhale: I'm unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep.”

The Oscars will air March 2, 2014 on ABC.
