The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge may have intended for the first official photographs of their son to break tradition when they opted out of employing a professional photographer. However, the photographs have now broken tradition in an additional and unexpected way.

The first photographs of newborn Prince George of Cambridge were leaked on Monday, reported USA Today. Kensington Palace planned to release the photos at 7:01 PM EST. These plans went awry when the images made an appearance on the Internet at 4:30 PM EST.

The Huffington Post reports that the photographs were taken by Michael Middleton, Kate's father, and include the royal couple, their son, and their dog. The Duchess is wearing a maroon dress and a black camisole while the Duke is wearing a blue shirt and jeans.

In the past, the first official photos of a royal baby would have been taken in a more formal manner by a professional photographer. For example, Mario Testino, who was apparently a favorite of Princess Diana, took the couple's engagement photos. In fact, a professional photographer was called in to document Prince William's first months.

Prince William has spoken out about how parenthood has changed him already. In an interview with CNN that aired on Monday, he said, "The last few weeks for me have been a different emotional experience, something I never thought I would feel myself. And I find, again it's only been a short period, but a lot of things affect me differently now."
