Former Friends star Lisa Kudrow is getting political with ABC’s hit drama Scandal. Kudrow has snagged a recurring role in the show’s third season.
Kudrow’s role is still unknown, notes E! News, but this will be her first job at network television since Friends ended in 2004. Deadline, which first reported the news, did report that she will play a politician in the drama that is set in Washington DC.
Since Friends ended, Kudrow’s TV work has been restricted to cable gigs, including HBO’s The Comeback and the current Showtime comedy Web Therapy.
She also has a Scandal connection - her producing partner, Dan Bucatinsky, has a recurring role on the show, which earned him an Emmy nomination.
Scandal was created by Grey’s Anatomy’s Shonda Rhimes and stars Kerry Washington, who also scored an Emmy nomination as Outstanding Lead Actress.
Scandal’s third season kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 3.
Kudrow was in the news last month when she admitted in a CNN interview that she was nearly fooled by Friends reunion rumors. The cast and NBC put those rumors to rest.
