We open on the guys trying a spicy concoction from a food truck. Then, their longtime friend/bounty hunter Harley Walls [played by guest star Thomas Lennon] tells the guys that he needs their help because his ex-wife is suing him because he missed some alimony payments and wants custody of their two daughters. Harley then tells the guys that he made a “bad investment,” and that he’s on a stakeout. He then confronts his mark, Tony, who runs. Harley gives chase and follows Tony into a tunnel. The guys hear some beanbag shots and then Harley emerges with Tony in his custody. Harley then tells the guys that Tony works for his “bad investment,” a man named Paul Fitzgerald, a white-collar criminal, who does stock fraud, Ponzi schemes, etc. Harley bailed Fitzgerald out when his assets were frozen but then Fitzgerald bailed on him. Harley then asks Tony to tell him where Fitzgerald is.
Damien comes into the firm in shorts and a T-shirt, shocking everyone at the firm, especially Rachel. He tells her that he’s done doing things by the book and kisses her. She’s shocked and he says that he has wanted to do that since they met. He then asks her if she wants to go for a walk. She’s speechless and still in shock from the kiss and Damien leaves.
At their beach house, Jared tells Peter that he got them a double date. Pindar interrupts them to tell them that Allen Slayton, the guys’ new probation officer is there. Slayton then tells the guys that they have a probation-violation meeting on Friday. The guys ask why and Slayton says that Rachel refused to sign off on their paperwork for that month.
The guys go to the firm to see Rachel and run into a shorts and T-short wearing Damien. They think he’s lost his mind judging from his unusually laid-back demeanor. He replies that he found it.
The guys then go confront Rachel, who tells them that she was told they were involved in an assault. They explain to her about Harley and what happened but she doesn’t want to hear it.
The guys and Harley are talking late at night at the firm. Harley apologizes for getting them in trouble with Rachel. The guys tell Harley that he’s being charged with assaulting Tony after they left him. He says that insane. They add that he said, in front of witnesses, that he would get Tony to tell him where Fitzgerald was and they are having Ellen Swatello, look into how serious the investigation is. They then show Harley Tony’s booking photo after Harley dropped him off. He’s been badly beaten. Harley swears to the guys that he didn’t beat Tony up.
At their beach house, Harley tells the guys his license has been pulled because of the pending investigation. The guys say they can get it back and that he shouldn’t worry since the DA hasn’t even filed charged yet. They then add that Swatello is coming over tomorrow and they’ll see what’s going on. The guys want to go back to the park to look for more witnesses but Harley says he wants to. The guys tell him to lay low but Harley wants to help and says Pindar can watch him. The guys reluctantly agree.
At the firm, Rachel yells at Stanton for “undermining” her with the guys’ probation status. He says that he doesn’t see it that way. He then tells her the guys were witnesses to the assault not accomplices, that their probation-violation hearing is off and that he will be signing off on their probation reports from now on. Rachel then questions what she’s doing at the firm if she has no power and reminds Stanton that her name is still on the firm. He replies that his is too and is higher.
At their beach house, Ellen Swatello comes to talk about Harley’s case. Peter leaves so Ellen and Jared can be alone. While eating cereal on the deck, Ellen asks Jared why she got rid of Peter so he could be alone with her and thinks he wants to have sex with her on the deck. He evades and she changes the subject telling him that Tony gave a statement that Harley assaulted him with a hockey stick in the back of the car and witnesses saw the stick when Harley put Tony in the car and there was a crack in it because Harley hit Tony with it. Jared insists that it didn’t happen. Ellen then gives him a subpoena for Harley to produce the stick in court and if there’s no crack, Harley will be in good shape. Jared agrees and Ellen leaves but not before telling Jared that she would have had sex with him in the deck if he’d asked one more time. He asks but she says she’ll see him in court.
At the county jail, Peter tells Jared that Harley keeps the stick in his car because he coaches his kid’s league but says there’s no crack and that he’ll bring it to court. Tony comes in and the guys want him to tell them the truth. Peter thinks someone beat him up after Harley dropped him off. Tony calls for the guard but Jared mentions that Tony is facing robbery charges, which was why he jumped bail. Jared then says if he backs off his story against Harley, he and Peter will look into his case. Tony says he already has a lawyer, Randy Brooks. Peter wonders how Tony could afford such a high-priced lawyer. Tony stays mum. Then, Peter says when Harley brings the stick to court; they are going to go after him and Fitzgerald. Tony says he’ll take his chances.
In court, the guys are waiting for Harley, who appears to be a no show. The judge threatens to issue a bench warrant if he doesn’t arrive in one minute. Then, Harley arrives without the stick. Harley tells the guys that he can’t find it. The guys tell the judge that Harley “misplaced the stick.” Ellen then requests that assault charges be filed against Harley. The judge grants her request and says she will instruct the jury at the trial that failure to produce the stick is an admission of guilt. The judge calls for recess and Harley asks the guys how bad this is. “It’s not good,” replies Jared. The guys figure Tony had someone steal the stick. Harley thinks Fitzgerald was behind the theft. Then, Ellen tells the guys that she’s not totally unsympathetic and offers a deal, 30 days in jail and Harley’s days as a bounty hunter are over. Harley says he can’t do that. The guys tell Ellen that they will get back to her.
At the firm, the guys talk about how they don’t like “new Karp.” While playing with protection gear, Peter gets an idea but tells Jared that it will hurt.
In court, the guys cite self-defense for Harley. Ellen questions the odd defense since Tony was handcuffed in Harley’s car. The guys say they mean before the alleged assault. Peter then demonstrates what Harley used to defend himself when Tony pulled a knife on him. But, the judge thinks it’s a weapon and orders the guys to get it out of her courtroom or she’ll hold them in contempt. The guys then stage a fight over the weapon and Jared shoots Peter with the beanbag gun. Peter is out cold.
Later, in the judge’s chambers, Peter comes to with ice over his eye with the judge, Ellen and Jared standing over him. Peter then whispers to Ellen that Jared loves her, which he denies. The judge asks Peter if he remembers what happened. She apologizes for yelling at him and asks how he feels. The judge suggests a mistrial but Jared decline the offer. Outside the judge’s chambers, Peter yells at Jared because he was supposed to be the one who was hit. He apologizes.
At the firm, Rachel, a shorts and T-shirt wearing Damien and Stanton are trying to woo a client. Damien throws away the legal documents and tells the client that he cares about the firm’s employees just like the client cares for his employees. The client liked Damien’s pitch but declines using the firm. Rachel chases after him. Alone, Stanton tells Damien that he supports his “life change” but wants to know of it is real or is it a protest against him. Damien asks if it matters. Stanton replies that it might. Stanton then says that since he killed Dinsdale, his profile has increased and a judgeship still looks promising. Stanton then asks Damien if he wants to be a judge or does he want to be himself? He leaves Damien alone to ponder his question.
In court, Jared questions Tony, who is on the stand. He asks him if he works for Fitzgerald, he says he’s not allowed to associate with his former colleagues because of his probation. Jared says that’s a yes and Ellen objects saying it isn’t. Jared then asks Tony if he’s lying to set up Harley. Ellen objects again. Jared says Tony’s injures happened before he reached the police station. The judge isn’t sure how that’s possible but he has her attention. Jared questions how Tony sustained an injury supposedly an hour after he reached the station. He then shows the jury a picture of Peter an hour after he accidentally shot him in the face with a beanbag gun. Peter has no visible injuries. Then, Peter walks into the courtroom with a massive black eye and half his face completely blotchy and red. Ellen objects and asks what it has to do with the case. Peter then proposes that Harley shot Tony in self-defense with the beanbag gun. Tony says no. Peter then asks Tony if he made up the story about the beating. He denies that too and Peter says he has no more questions.
At the bar, the guys are the double date. Peter is getting sympathy for his injuries. Then, Peter sees Charlie and wonders what she’s doing there. He chases after her. She asks him what happened to his face. He says he’ll tell her later and that Jared set up the double date. She declines, they hug and kiss but Charlie laughs because of his face. They part ways.
At the firm, Damien asks about Peter’s face. Damien then asks the guys why everyone is dressed so relaxed. They say it’s because they sent out an email that it was “Beach Wednesday.” Damien says there is no such thing. Jared suggests Damien shut it down. Damien says it’s cool and the guys are mad they’ve lost their adversary.
At the courthouse, the guys tell Harley that there’s no court because of a sick juror. Harley tells them even if they win the case, the board ruled that he can’t get his license back and unless he can prove someone else beat up Tony, he’s done. The guys offer to talk to the board but Harley declines the offer. He adds that he only fought this thing so could support his girls, that can do 30 days in jail, to call Ellen to get any deal they can and he’ll plead guilty. Harley walks away but the guys want to find Fitzgerald and prove he’s behind this.
At their beach house, Pindar tells Harley that he knows how to find Fitzgerald and then he can collect the bounty on his head. The guys then show up and tell Harley they are going to bring down Fitzgerald.
At the firm, Harley says Fitzgerald will be on a rooftop of a hotel with a direct view of his son’s high school graduation. But, Harley won’t let the guys use any of his bounty hunter gear.
The guys confront Fitzgerald on the hotel rooftop. They tell him that they know he’s been in contact with his son, which makes him an accomplice to a wanted fugitive. They then add they have someone at his graduation ready to arrest him before his name is even called. Fitzgerald thinks they’re bluffing. Peter asks if he’s ready to gamble with his son. Fitzgerald then asks them what they want. Peter says they want him to admit he set up Harley. Fitzgerald asks if he admits it, they’ll let his son graduate. The guys say they will. Fitzgerald then explains to the guys how he and Tony set Harley up. Fitzgerald then watches his son graduate. Then, cops show up to arrest Fitzgerald. He asks if they are going to leave his son alone and they say they don’t know anything about his son.
Jared shows up with flowers for Ellen. She says it’s sweet but unnecessary because she just dismissed the charges against Harley. She then tells him that Stanton came to see her that morning and that he’s a fan of hers. She says again that he loves her. He denies it saying he never said that he did in the first place. He then asks her what Stanton wanted. She says he told her that one of the partners would be leaving soon, didn’t say which one and offered her a job. Jared asks her if she’s going to take it. She replies that she hasn’t decided yet and asks what he thinks. He replies that they should discuss it that evening. She suggests her place at 11 and he agrees. He offers her the flowers again and she takes them.
At their beach house, Pindar finds Stanton. Stanton asks Pindar to join him for some coffee. He’s impressed that he cracked the bounty hunter case. Stanton tells him that he’s too valuable to be on the sidelines and that “change is coming.”
At the firm, Rachel goes to see Damien, who is in a suit again. He tells her that he has a shot a judgeship. She congratulates him. He wants to talk about their kiss. She tells him to forget about it but he says he can’t. He then tells her he got involved with a co-worker before she came and they had to keep it a secret and doesn’t want to do that to her. He then asks her what she wanted to see him about and she says she just wanted to wish him luck. He thanks her.
At their beach house, the guys are having a party. Jared and Harley arrive and tell Peter that Harley got his license back at the $50,000 bounty for Fitzgerald. Peter then tells Harley that his ex-wife is going to back off seeking custody of their daughters. Harley is very grateful to the guys. Harley then goes to check on Pindar. Peter then tells Jared that Charlie was in town and may come to the party. Pindar then appears telling the guys to come with him. Pindar shows that Rob Lowe has his flying drone. Lowe threatens the guys and Pindar and Peter sees that Charlie is with Lowe.
