British-born actor Wentworth Miller, known most notably for his starring role in Prison Break, has come out as gay.

After receiving an invitation to the St. Petersburg International Film Festival, Miller wrote a letter to the Fesitval's Director stating, "as a gay man, I must decline." The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Degamation (GLAAD) posted the full letter on their website today.

According to E News!, Miller received praise from GLAAD spokesman, Wilson Cruz, "As people from across the globe continue to speak out against this horrific law, more celebrities and corporations should follow his courageous lead in openly condemning Russia's anti-LGBT law."

Russia's anti-gay law has quickly stirred up controversy, with many people calling for a boycott of the 2014 Winter Olympics to be held in Sochi, Russia this February.

Since the law was announced, some celebrities have voiced their disgust. Actress Tilda Swinton posed with a rainbow flag in front of the Kremlin in early July. Andy Cohen, Bravo executive, stepped down from his gig as Miss Universe Pageant host because it was being held in Moscow, telling E News! that he turned it down because of Russia's policies that "make it unsafe for the gays who live there and gays coming to work or visit."

BuzzFeed points out with many summer blockbusters and fall movies premiering in Moscow, there will be no shortage of reactions to the new law.
