On Monday, August 19th by Bad Robot Productions, the production company owned by J.J. Abrams, released a 1:07 minute video trailer. For what exactly? No one is sure. This short video has sent the internet into a frenzy. Entertainment Weekly debuted the video, but gave no insight into the meaning.
The trailer itself shows a many struggle along the shore, waves crashing in the night, as the narrator says "He arrived knowing nothing of himself. Who is he? Soon he will know. Because what begins at the water shall end there, and what ends there once more begin." The shot does out from this struggling man to a light, which reveals a man holding a flashlight with his lips stitched shut.
Entertainment Time gives us two explanations: Stranger is a teaser for the new NBC show Believe which Abrams is producing or a teaser for a new novel out October 29th that Abrams penned with Doug Dorset titled S.
CNN also includes these theories, but seemed to have a little more fun coming up with some others. They included being a tease for a Lost spinoff, a Star Wars movie about "a runaway Boba Fett clone" and a new tv series based on the DC Comics Phantom Stranger .
