J.K. Rowling has settled her lawsuit against the culprits who outed her for being Robert Galbraith.
Earlier this month The Daily Telegraph reported that JK Rowling, the mastermind behind the Harry Potter series, was using the pseudonym Robert Galbraith to publish what was described as a “classic crime novel” titled The Cuckoo’s Calling. Despite the fact that both JK Rowling and Galbraith had the same publisher and editor, the two seemed to have nothing in common. So how did everyone find out the truth?
Perez Hilton reported that, shockingly enough, it was JK Rowling’s lawyer who did her dirty. Both Chris Gossage and his friend Judith Callegari let it slip that Galbraith was actually Rowling, not only betraying Rowling’s trust but also a breach in confidentiality. Now with Rowling’s new lawyer, Jenny Afia, Rowling won the lawsuit against them and both Gossage and Callegari paid Rowling an “undisclosed amount of damages” that Rowling then donated to The Soldiers’ Charity. As for how it felt to publish a book under a pseudonym, Rowling said,
“I had hoped to keep this secret a little longer because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience. It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation and pure pleasure to get feedback under a different name.”
