On Saturday night, James Franco was roasted on the Comedy Central Roast of James Franco and he survived the event unscathed.

After the show, he said he felt “great,” saying “everyone was awesome.”

“It didn't hurt. If you're going to do this kind of thing, you should just be ready for whatever,” he said, USA Today reports. “It's not like I haven't heard criticism about my performance in the Oscars. Or jokes about my choice of gay roles."

The show will air on Comedy Central on Sept. 2. Franco’s Pineapple Express co-star, Seth Rogen, was the roast master.

Jeff Ross dressed up as Franco’s Spring Breakers character, and he not only dissed his role in the movie but also his Oscar hosting with Anne Hathaway a few years back.

"Face it, Franco, you and Anne Hathaway had the comedic chemistry of Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman," Ross said.

Also after the show, Franco said "I do think this is my punishment for the Oscars. America and the rest of the world can have a cathartic moment after this airs."

Others who helped roast Franco were Andy Samburg and Aziz Ansari as well as Sarah Silverman and Jonah Hill.

EW recapped some of the best lines from the night, including Rogen saying “Franco, you look like you’re asleep. Did you just read a James Franco book? In all seriousness, he is a very hardworking actor. He once told me he worked for 36 hours straight, which I don’t believe, the straight part, obviously.”
