Actor James Franco used Instagram to announce a new art program that he will be hosting and executive producing for the Ovation network.
The 127 Hours actor began teasing his fans on earlier this week by posting and image of himself as the Mona Lisa with “New TV series about art duuuh” drawn over it. “They don't want me to say the channel yet, don't know why. But I guess you'll find out Wednesday,” Franco wrote.
A second image replaced his head on Vincent Van Gogh’s self-portrait. “New show, with me, and a bunch of crazy stuff. Announcement tomorrow,” he said.
Finally, this morning, Franco revealed all with his head in the famous Scream painting. “New show on ovation,” he wrote in the caption. He also listed a few points about the show, noting that “The series explores art everywhere in our lives.”
Ovation posted more information on the show, titled James Franco Presents. "This is a show where content dictates form and form dictates content. It is an art show that is an art piece, meaning the show has synched with the rhythms of my life and work,” the Oscar nominated actor said in a statement.
The network said that the show will follow Franco’s various art exploits around the world, giving viewers and fans a new perspective on his work. He will also introduce fans to his artist friends and show off their work, plus he’ll visit the artists he looks up to.
This is just the latest extracurricular activity for Franco, who has been busy with projects outside of acting. He’s been a poet, an author and a director. In addition, he’ll be roasted by Comedy Central next month.
James Franco Presents will premiere in November.
