Jennifer Lopez’s boyfriend, Casper Smart, has let the cat out of the bag in regards to the actress and singer’s return to Fox’s American Idol this season.
Apparently Smart thought the network had already made the announcement, as he confirmed her return while talking to E! News about his show A Step Away. When asked if she was coming back he simply answered, “Yes.”
Fox hasn’t commented yet, but an insider told E! "Returning to American Idol makes sense for Jennifer this season, as the show's schedule will allow her to focus on new film and TV projects and, of course, her twins are starting school this year and she will have time for her family."
When Fox Network President Kevin Reilly was asked about it at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, all he would say is, "Jennifer has been a close part of the show all along…there have been discussions there.”
The only judge from last year that has confirmed they’re coming back is Keith Urban. Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey all announced their departure from the show. Executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, was also fired so this season is likely going to be different than previous seasons.
Rumored judges who are said to be considered are past contestants Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert and Kelly Clarkson.
