The judge in Amanda Bynes’ case has determined that she can’t leave the psychiatric hospital just yet. The judge is keeping her on the 5150 psychiatric hold even after she appeared before him on Thursday and asked to be released.

Bynes’ lawyer argued that there was no legal obligation for the judge to hold her for an extra two weeks but the judge did not agree, according to TMZ.

Bynes was put in the 5150 hold 10 days ago and when she was supposed to be released 72 hours later, doctors came in to argue that she needed her stay extended for two weeks so she could be diagnosed.

It’s pretty much been determined that she is schizophrenic, according to reports. Now that she’s properly medicated, she’s said to be doing much better. But her lawyer claims she’s capable of caring for herself and she isn’t a danger to others.

MTV News reports Bynes started a fire in a neighbor’s driveway in California last week, which catapulted her into the psych ward.

Her parents have since applied for a conservatorship, much like Britney Spears, but they were denied. Another hearing is set for Aug. 9.
