Kate Middleton stepped out to join her husband, Prince William, at the Ring O'Fire Ulta Marathon on Friday. It was her first royal engagement since she and her husband stepped out of St. Mary's Hospital with their newborn son.
Luckily, neither Middleton nor her husband had to travel very far from their baby boy to make it to the engagement. Us Weekly reports that the event was held in Anglesey Wales. Prince William is currently stationed there are a helicopter pilot with the Royal Air Force. A spectator at the event said, "Both looked genuinely happy to be there. There was lots of laughter from the new parents as they did their walkabout. Many locals thanked them for being there."
The Duke of Cambridge announced the start of the 135-mile, 3-day race. His wife was not originally scheduled to attend but decided to accompany him. When asked about her son by the crowds at the event, she said, "He's very well. He's sleeping at the moment." When she was presented with flowers and decorations, she noted that her baby likes bright colors.
According to The Huffington Post UK, onlookers at the event said the Duchess looked "absolutely gorgeous." Middleton looked slim in a sage jacket and black skinny jeans but has apparently not been focused on losing weight. A source said, "A few weeks after George was born, you could hardly tell she had just given birth. Kate's still breastfeeding, and the small weight she gained while pregnant has just melted off. She's not dieting."
