Actress Kathy Bates was supposed to be focusing on the new season of American Horror Story at the show’s Television Critics Association Tour Friday, but she couldn’t resist slamming the network that aired her last TV series, Harry’s Law. When asked if the cancellation of that show made her rethink working on TV, she had a surprisingly candid response.
“I think they treated us like shit. They kicked us to the curb,” she said, referring to NBC, which aired the show’s only two seasons, notes The Wrap.
“They kicked us to the curb. They disrespected us; they disrespected our 7-11 million viewers. I think they’re getting what they deserve this year, Thank you,” she continued, reports Deadline.
Harry’s Law didn’t do well with the 18-49 demographic, but it did pull in viewers and even earned Bates two Emmy nominations for her performance. Paul McCrane even won an Emmy for his guest role in season one. Critics were surprised to see it cancelled so quickly, since it was the most-watched drama on the network.
Bates stars in the new season of AHS, subtitled Coven. Her co-stars include Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett and Jessica Lange and it is set in New Orleans.
